Information and communication Technologies in the contemporary classroom
The aim of this website it to highlight why it is important for your child to engage with and use ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) during our English unit this semester. Information and communication technologies are technologies related to capturing, organising, storing and exchanging information (Churchill et al. 2011).
As a year four student, your child will be required to ‘develop and apply ICT knowledge, skills and appropriate social and ethical protocols and practices to investigate, create and communicate, as well as develop their ability to manage and operate ICT to meet their learning needs’ (ACARA, 2012).
Before you begin exploring this website, please take a few moments to watch the following video to familiarise yourself with the challenges and technologies your children use and encounter on a daily basis in the 21st century.
